Complain letter

Dear sir or madam:

Last weekend my girlfriend and I arrived at your popular cafeteria looking for a very nice time to spend together. The motto in your window reads "where your friends are as special as you are" unfortunately the service that day didn't reflect those words.

As soon as we arrived there we had the chance to sit at a table and we waited for almost half an hour for a waiter to help us. There were not to many people for this to happen but i have to point out that the music was good and this helped us to be pacient. However, when we were finally serviced the waiter spilled a cup of coffee on my brand new jacket. It costed me $15 to have it clean.

My jacket doesn't look that good anymore. I had never had an experience such like this anywhere. I hope you can understand my complain because i want you to refund the money for another brand new jacket.

Sincerely yours

Juan Del Angel.

Dear Sir or Madam:

On July 16 my friends and I arrived at your inn hoping to spend an enjoyable weekend. Unfortunately, because of your poor service, our weekend was a disaster. Since your ad says "have a fabulous time or get your money back, " I am requesting that you refund our money.
From the moment we arrived, there were problems with the service. First, a very unfriendly desk clerk couldn't find our reservation. After waiting almost half an hour, we were led by another unfriendly clerk to our room. The room, which had a view of a parking lot instead of the bay, had not yet been cleaned, so we found dirty towels on the beds and cigarette butts in the ashtrays. Despite these problems, none of your employees apologized to us. This was not the weekend we had been looking foward to.
Service at your inn was not always like this. My previous visits were always enjoyable because of the courteous service and clean rooms with beautiful views. Until things change at your inn, I will never recommend it to anyone. I expect to receive my refund shortly.

Sincerely yours,

Dale Thomas

Silly questions, brilliant answers

I think many persons turned down to Bowerman's idea because the mediate need was being solved by a really ingenious idea, and the way he thought his mistake could be adapted as a sole for athletic shoes.

I think Smith's professor gave him a C because he might not had as great ideas as his students, and even he didn't took his student's idea as possible.

Bowerman's idea had led to many imitations, because all over the world are too many different kinds of brands which copycat nike's models, shapes and even logos.

Actually, I only have one and it isn't profitable at all, because for doing that, it is required to have a big fortune, or another's funds to invest in. My idea is producing electricity by windpower and by sun heating.

Deserting from school is a big and difficult problem that must be solved in Mexico, this is a common problem among students of any social class, and its causes are complex.

leaving school is a phenomenon that occurs when a person ding school years abandon his/her studies definitely for spending his time doing another activity. young people who drop out from school are unlikely to have the minimum skills necessary to take part in today's increasingly complex working society.

Migration is another big problem contributing to this growing trend, this happens because too many families depend on wages earned by only one person.

They need to move from one location to another for better jobs. Ironically another cause is the school environment as well, and it is because of the narrow and strict discipline from the teachers such as grading them with failing notes and not preparing their materials appropriately for class, causing boredom.

As we can see, school dropouts are common and they are an important problem because one way or another they stop the development of our society.

Lucy Gomez

Lucy Gomez is the most creative person I know. She started piano lessons when she was only 6 years old. At school, she was always creating interesting projects in her art class. When she was only 12 years old, she won a citywide poetry contest. Her parents were very proud of her. Now Lucy works as a sitcom writer for a popular TV show. She works with a group of writers, and together they have to think of fresh ideas. They also have to come up with funny dialog for the actors on their show because the actors have to play believable characters that will make the audience laugh. It is not an easy job, buy Lucy does it well. She starts work late in the morning and often works until 7 or 8 at night. Lucy is very curious. She likes to travel and meet new people who have opinions that are different from hers. She often carries a notebook with her and writes down what she sees and hears. Lucy tells me that these new experiences are a good source of ideas for her work. I always enjoy talking to her and am happy to know someone as bright and creative as Lucy.

Embarrasing moment

One day I was taking a walk on the beach and stopped to look at the waves. Suddenly, Ithought I saw something struggling in the water. It looked like a man who was having trouble swimming. At that moment I reached for my glasses, and then remembered I'd left them at home. I couldn't see the object clearly. Just then a big wave came, and the man was gone. At that moment I ran as fast as I could to get the lifeguard. After that we arrived back at the spot where I had seen the man. When the lifeguard looked through his binoculars He saidhe didn't see a thing. I was pretty embarrased. The next day I bought a newspaper. There was an article about dolphins swimming near the shore. As soon as I read the article I realized that i had seen a dolphin in the water - not a man!. After that I never went anywhere without my glasses again.

Halloween !

Halloween ...

The true meaning of halloween are traced back to the Celts. Around 2000 years ago, the Celts celebrated a holiday the last day of October. They thought that in October 31, undeads, spirits, and demons came to the earth to visit the homes in which they lived.

This was scary for the Celts and they used to went out of their homes and staid together out of their homes all over a field. They made a kind of torch to scare all the evil spirits roaning around in the night.

The celts lived in the lands that now are Ireland, the tradition of halloween came to America in the 1840's when the potato famine attacked Ireland and Brittish Island, those Irish inhabitants came with their traditions and habits.

Scholar desertion

Supporting statements

As a rule, most teenagers in my country use to smoke during the highschool. It is a growing trend that may be stopped. There are many places in which smoking should be avoided and also there are many cases of cancer. And as all of you may know smoking is cause of cancer.
,
In general, people from the city don't have enough time for staying with their families. They usually have to work all week long and on weekends they usually prefer to rest or to sleep as much as possible.

If young couples in my country want to get married, they have to talk with their families, and ask for permission to give that big step in their lives, they have to ask for their parents consent.

Not inspired :/

Im not that inspired at this moment, i'm a little bit sad, because my computer broke down. I had it for 5 years and i really had special care with it,because was a gift from my grandparents, and one of them died a few months after they gave me the computer.

I remember with so much happiness those moments in which I tried to teach my grandfather how to use the computer. He always said " Chango viejo ya no aprende a echar maromas" and I would never forget that phrase, he always had a special care about me.

Because when I was a kid, i got sick of my sight and I used to have restrictions about not to play in the sun, to use sunglasses, not to strain my eyes trying to read when i wasn't able to. But despite the fact of having to do those instructions, during schoolweek i couldn't wait for the moment of going to my grandparent's house.

When it was friday i was really excited by thinking that it was only matter of time of being there with my dearly beloved grandfhater. Almost all my relatives ,who knew my grandfather, say that I am like him (phisically).

Wherever you are my grandfather, I hope to be your biggest reason to be proud of. I love you and I will never forget you, You will always be part of my conscience.

What a difficult week !!! Back 2 school

Hello everybody! here i am again, with the best of intentions for producing a nice entry, but trust me people, i feel sleepy, it is sunday, and I have sore throat. Well as some of you may know, the past monday i started classes in the morning again, from 7:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. and sometimes 2:40 p.m. It is really tiring doing that, every single day of the school week I have to make a big effort.

A regular day for me starts at 5:30 a.m. when I wake up, then I take a quick shower, and I get dressed with my uniform, next I comb my hair, after that I go downstairs and take a really delicious breakfast, I take my time for eating my breakfast, as I finish it, I brush my teeth. Then I take my backpack with my ring binder and my sunglasses. Then I go out of my house and open the front door for taking the car out of the garage. I drive to school, and I have classes all the morning. I have a break of 30 minutes at 9:30 a.m. and I usually go with 3 friends to buy tacos or molletes, also i talk with my girlfriend some minutes, and i try to divide my time for doing homework of the UAT, then i go back to classes. When the time of going home comes up, I quickly go out of my classroom and take my way back to my house. As I enter home, i take my t-shirt off and i quickly search for a clean t-shirt, I change my backpack and I try to eat as fastest as I can, then i brush my teeth, and ask my mother for taking me to the bus stop. As i arrive there, if I am lucky, there's one waiting, If I´m not, then i have to wait for one, i do my way to the UAT, sometimes reading, sometimes doing homework xD, then, when I arrive to the UAT, i run as if i were Ana Guevara hehehe, for taking the internal bus, in order to be in time for entering to my English class with Mr. Cabrales, then I study hard all afternoon, and I really HOPE for the time of getting back to my house. When I arrive home, I run upstairs direct to my room, and I throw my backpack, I take a shower and then I go down again in order to eat the dinner, then I do homework, and finally I go to bed.

That's a regular day for me since the past Monday, but despite the fact of tiredness, I do all what I am supposed to do, cause I want to be someone. Not knowing how, but I feel I'm in the right way. Thanks God for all, and thanks parents, I'm not going to dissapoint you.

Well, I have more things to do, and i have to say bye, See you later !!

First Entry

Hello people !!

First of all, thank you for coming and spending some of your valuable time. I know that maybe I am not the kind of person who is always smiling and trying to be social. But all of you know that you can count on me.

I am 21 years old, my birthday is on September 16th (with my arms wide open for receiving hugs and/or presents...hehe joking). I started studying this English degree in 2004, at the same time i started studying electronic engineering, by twists of fate in 2005 I had to stop studying English. I continued studying engineering, but in 2006 i had to have a surgery, and i stopped studying engineering as well.
A half year later i decided to take up again the English degree, and now I am here, with you my friends.

Well, I am a very sympathetic person, I am very active, neat, organized and social sometimes. I do not like to wait for someone (talking about homeworks, group works, and those things). I love football soccer and tennis. I LOVE driving !!! I started at 14 years old. I am a gadget fan, i like to know all about the latest innovations and electronic devices. I hate hypocritical people, and also stupid people. I am serious and sometimes I like to joke, but not falling into stupidity.

I like all kind of movies, and music, but talking about bands, I have favourites like keane, lifehouse, and coldplay.

I hope to learn so much about English language, it is really important for me because i want to succeed in whichever my job will be, and to be a successful professional.
